Overview

Fractice is a free, open-source fractal explorer and renderer for XP/Vista/Win7. It supports navigation, history thumbnails, previews, antialiasing, deep zoom, printing, posters, palettes, multicore and distributed processing, movie recording, undo/redo, color cycling, and job control. It also has VJ features, such as mixing, mirroring, origin motion, palette tweening, dual-monitor, and MIDI. A 64-bit version is available.

Fractice 1.0.05 fixes a bug that made shallow (non-deep) zooms take twice as long as they should have. Sorry!

Fractice 1.0.04 includes a native 64-bit version, which typically renders deep zooms 2.5 times faster than the 32-bit version.

Fractice 1.0.03 adds support for multi-leg recording, which allows a movie's trajectory to contain more than two coordinates. This version also includes several bug fixes, some of them critical.

After five months of rendering on up to 20 PCs, the Fractice movie Mandelbrot deep zoom to 2^316 (bigger than the universe!) is finally complete.
